A group of Taiwanese scholars are asking Foxconn Technology Group to end what it calls its "rigid and inhumane" management style at its massive manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, located in the southern part of China. The facility, which houses more than 300,000 people, has been under scrutiny after a string of suicides took place at the plant. Foxconn manufacturers iPods and iPads for Apple, and computers for Dell and Hewlett Packard.
Taiwanese scholars and labor activists have been critical of Foxconn's excessively fast assembly line and forced overtime policies. Foxconn has denied these allegations for years, but under pressure from business partners and the government, it recently announced two raises, more than doubling the basic worker pay in Shenzhen to 2,000 yuan ($293) per month.
Social scientist Yang You-ren at Taichung's Tunghai University began the Taiwan petition drive earlier this month in response to recent developments at Foxcoon. He and fellow academics say that they are appalled by Foxconn's labor policies. Read More

I have read several books before this one about the same subject, but the skills required were too high, and I do not 't understand many of them. iPhone and iPad development can easily become overwhelming, but as I read the book, I felt that the author knows how to teach, and he gave me confidence. In one, like me, who never saw a single line of Objective-C and above, 's golden.

I just could not 't get interested in the iPhone - the small size of the screen just turned me completely and expensive, locked into these plans rather than to help "or. When Apple announced iPad I immediately saw the potential and ordered a 3G iPad (not comes even when I'm writing this review), and went to learn to program on iPhone / iPad SDK.
Toward that end, I 've been reading stacks of books iPhone development, and while many of them are very good, none is so well established as a general introduction. That it is aimed at iPad important for me, but even without this attention, I would still be praising it.
What I found most valuable are the chapters on the application to explain how it all comes down - and that means that, when and how. This explanation is not enough from any other book I read - hinted at, but never set out step by step. It 'is very important for someone like me only in this world.
I also appreciate tips on how not thinking about iPad once more iPhone. I knew that already, but concrete examples really scored this time at home.
(It is interesting that the applications I have in mind to spend too much screen real estate to work on the iPhone, but iPad is really too big for him - the book made me realize that I need to redesign completely.)
