07/20/2010 Big Fish Clears One Billion Game Downloads

Seattle-based Big Fish Games has announced that it extended through 1000000000 casual gaming portal of the popular games, stage is characterized as the first in the industry.

Since forming in 2002 the firm has built up a catalogue of more than 2,500 games available through PC, Mac, retail, iPhone, iPad, Facebook and DS.

Promising a new game for the service every day, Big Fish allows users to freely play and demo a large selection of titles, and also offers a monthly subscription option.

Taito released an iPad version (for $5) of its iPhone Space Invaders app worldwide -- and thanks to common iPad naming conventions, Taito thought it was a good idea to call it Space Invaders HD .

IPad offers the game, of course, a larger-scale presentation of the games and 1978 Space Invaders Part IIJapan.

07/12/2010 Fruit Ninja will iPad in HD

Fruit are totally screwed.

Halfbrick has announced the impending release of Fruit Ninja HD, the upgraded version of its highly successful iPhone game. Built for iPad, Fruit Ninja HD will allow you to cut, slash and tear producing up to 8 fingers once with a nice, updated image.

As if that weren't enough, two competitive modes have been added to take advantage of the additional real estate offered by Apple's largest handheld. If multiplayer isn't your bag, don't fret. There's a selection of new single-player content in the game as well, including new modes and unlockable "Dojo" items.

We gave the original Fruit Ninja a rather positive review and it looks like the high-def version is shaping up to be even better. Fruit Ninja HD release in the App Store on July 14 for $ 4.99.

07/08/2010 OpenFeint Extension for Android devices "at the end of this summer" With Game Center on the iPhone horizon it appears the social gaming platform OpenFeint is looking to expand its reach to new mobile platforms. Today, a press release revealed the popular "gaming ecosystem" presently injected into countless iPhone and iPad titles is coming to Android phones at some point "later this summer."

The "9,200 member game developer community" using the platform will soon have access to an Android version of the OpenFeint SDK, as well as a "game discovery store" and mobile payment options via Google Checkout. The press release which announced the new plan mentions "high quality content" incoming from Astraware, Digital Chocolate, Glu Mobile, Hudson Soft and various indie developers. OpenFeint also plans to extend its "wildly successful" Game Spotlight discovery app to Android, allowing developers to register now

The Walt Disney Company has acquired Palo Alto-based iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch developer Tapulous.

The studio specialises in music titles and is best know for Tap Tap Revenge That said Disney was established more than 30 percent of iPhone / IPod touch users.

Tapulous is now a part of Disney Interactive Media Group's mobile games arm, with company founders, Bart Decrem and Andrew Lacy, taking leadership of the division and reporting to DIMG president Steve Wadsworth.
