NPD data show the players spent $ 4.6 billion on the Xbox 360 games and accessories, $ 2.1 billion on consoles last year, 1.7 million Xbox 360 sold systems in December.

Despite total U.S. retail sales sank 8 percent in 2011, sales of Microsoft have been growing. NPD data shows that Microsoft Xbox 360 was the best selling console in the past 12 months, helping to raise $ 6.7 billion in total sales of the technology giant in the year, against $ 6.2 billion during the same period last year.
