Walt Williams says that violent games is not bad or wrong, too easy, would see the writing the most promising for the future.

Spec Ops: The Line writer Walt Williams believes that games are violent, creatively speaking, too easy. Speaking today at a panel at the Game Developers Conference, Williams lamented the pervasive use of death in many FPS, saying that such actions have become not only commonplace, but also over the factory-and sometimes used as filler.

"We are in an industry full of very smart people, efficient and progressive. It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to play these games and take a critical look and say, "This is great. "It makes sense, especially as we age," said Williams. "We would like to see less violent games out there. Not because they are bad or wrong, but because I think in a creative way too easy."

Discussion
Williams focused on the contextualization of violence through the story, using Spec Ops: The Line for example. He said it was remarkable that Spec Ops: The Line has never reached the market, given the experimental nature of the title.
  • "Honestly, the game was much more than experience. He who, at that time, I am a little surprised that ever hit the shelves, "said Williams. Williams told where to write for shooters should go in the future, but he suggested that the creation of the most promising character would be a good start.
"Where to go after a game like that how can make another shooter ... probably leaving your living characters, I think you reach a point where we can attempt to better write characters ... they are a little more optimistic. thought it would be a good first step, "he said.
